While out hiking the trail, you will meander along a relaxing woodland pathway, while taking in the views of Mes Lake, South Mesa Lake, and Lost Lake. With several campgrounds nearby, this is a fantastic adventure to combine with a fun weekend of camping in the Colorado wilderness.
Route Description for Mesa Lakes Trail
Whether you are looking to stretch your legs while driving or are looking to spend a weekend exploring the outdoors with your family, the Mesa Lakes Trail is a quick and easy adventure in Colorado that will allow you to enjoy the beauty of nature while getting in a bit of exercise.
Setting out from the car park, you will head to the south through the forest and continue past the shores of South Mesa Lake. Just beyond this body of water, you will exit the cover of the forest and arrive at the secluded destination of Lost Lake, a charming emerald lake set in between two hills.
From here, you will backtrack to the north and head right after South Mesa Lake in order to walk along the shores of the larger Mesa Lake. Here, you will enjoy some lovely views across the water and surrounding woodlands, as you loop around the lake to arrive back at the trailhead where you began your adventure.

The starting point for the Mesa Lakes Trail can be found at the Mesa Lakes Trailhead parking area off CR65.
