Woods Walk

The Woods Walk is a laid back, family-friendly adventure in the Elk Mountains of Colorado that will take you from the town of Crested Butte to Peanut Lake. While out hiking the trail, you will work your way through lovely forests and some open grassy stretches of land, before taking in views overlooking the waters of the lake. This is a great trail if you are looking to stretch your legs outdoors without straying too far from town.
Route Description for Woods Walk
For those looking for an easy-going adventure from Crested Butte, the Woods Walk is a fantastic route that will take you through some lightly-forested terrain with scenic valley views. In addition to being awestruck by the surrounding mountains, you will also pass by the nearby Peanut Lake, which is a nice place to relax by the water’s edge at the midway point of your hike. Setting out from the car park along Kebler Pass Road, you will head north across the road and pick up the trail as it leads into the valley. Here, you will pass through some light forest cover and continue on across the open terrain at the foot of the hillside, keeping parallel to the road as you make your way in the direction of Peanut Lake. After reaching the terminus of the route near the Alien Shack Trailhead, simply turn back and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings once more, as you head back to the starting point of your adventure.Getting to the Woods Walk Trailhead
