Route Description for Green Mountain Loop Trail
The Green Mountain Loop Trail is a relaxing excursion in the Pike National Forest. Hike the secluded path through the woodland environment and past several impressive granite outcroppings. This path is shared with mountain bikers, so be sure to keep an ear out for your fellow adventurers. With limited elevation gain and easy-to-navigate terrain, this hike is ideal for new hikers and families alike.
Begin your adventure from the Colorado Trail Segment 3 trailhead. At the first intersection keep left, crossing over the campground access road. Follow the path until the next junction. At this point, you can complete the loop from either direction, but we went counterclockwise. Veer right and you will be diverted onto the Green Mountain Trail. Ascend the forested trail, under the coverage of vibrant aspens and towering pines.
Follow this path until you meet another intersection, here you will want to turn left, back onto the Colorado Trail Segment 3. Hike along this route, past granite outcroppings and fellow adventurers. Continue along this path, keeping right at the Green Mountain Trail junction. Retrace your steps along the Colorado Trail Segment 3 all the way back to the trailhead.
