Route Description for Molly Lake Hike

The Molly Lake Hike is an idyllic meadowland hike in the Cache La Poudre Wilderness. Trek through lush, grassy plains and under the shade of vibrant aspen trees all while enjoying vistas of the encompassing mountainous environments. If you are seeking a relaxing hike, then the Molly Lake Trail is perfect. With mild elevation gain and small undulations, novice hikers and children alike should be able to manage the terrain. Though you can experience this trail year-round, we would recommend completing it in autumn, as the aspen trees are at their peak vibrance.

Begin your adventure along the Molly Lake Trail from the Lady Moon Trailhead. Head southwest down the Lady Moon Trail, and through the grazing cattle. Shortly after your departure from the trailhead you will encounter an intersection, veer left, and you will be diverted on the Molly Moon Trail. Hike along this path, ignoring the off-shooting trails. This route will guide you through grassy plains and through an aspen grove. Enjoy the scenery as you hike this undulating path. Eventually, you will confront a junction with the Granite Ridge Trail. Stay right and trek along the Granite Ridge Trail until it delivers you to Molly Lake.

At the lake, enjoy the shimmering water and stunning landscape. Feel free to navigate the rocky lake shore around its perimeter. Take in the scenery and relax prior to beginning your return. When you are ready, retrace your steps along the path back to the car park.
