Moonrakers Classic Medium Hike

Moonrakers Classic Medium is a 8.2mi hiking circuit near Golden, BC, that utilizes both hiking and mountain bike paths to create a fun route through the scenic woodland landscape. Similar to Moonrakers Classic Short, this route will take you along some mild elevation gains and drops as you explore the area around the Cedar Lakes and beyond. Keep an eye out for passing cyclists, and remember to share the path with those looking to pass.
Route Description for Moonrakers Classic Medium Hike
Hiking along the Moonrakers Classic Medium trail is much the same as the shorter version of this hike, with the exception that the trail is extended further to the southeast to include the Better Than Boston and Bear Claw trails. This meandering forest route makes for an awesome outdoor experience due to the picturesque views of the lakes and the peaceful woodland atmosphere. The trail also provides the opportunity to spot local wildlife species in the areas around the wetlands and lakes and the chance to view the surrounding rugged mountain peaks. Hikers looking to utilize this route should note that while dogs are allowed on the trail, they are not permitted in the area around the first Cedar Lake. Whether you are looking for a quick trail run or a lengthier day-hike with family and friends, this is an awesome trail in the Golden area that shouldn’t be skipped.Getting to the Moonrakers Classic Medium Hike Trailhead
Find the Moonrakers Classic Medium trail from the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, drive east on Kicking Horse Trail for 2.4mi, and make a right turn onto Dogtooth FSR. After travelling 1.1mi, keep to the left and immediately turn right on Cedar Lake FSR. You’ll find the trailhead on the left in 623ft.Route Information
