Montezuma’s Revenge
Montezuma’s Revenge is a 2.9 km lollipop hiking route near Invermere, BC, that loops through the tree cover and features a peaceful forest atmosphere. While you won’t have any real sightlines besides those within the forest, you can use the time to disconnect from the outside world and appreciate the beauty of the scenic woodland landscape. Remember to bring a trail map or GPS as the route is poorly marked in some areas.

Route Description for Montezuma’s Revenge
Hiking along Montezuma’s Revenge is a quick and easy trek through the forests surrounding Fairmont Hot Springs that will both get you some easy exercise and allow you to recharge in a magical forest setting. This is a multi-use trail, so hikers should keep an eye out for passing mountain bikes or trail runners and allow them enough room to pass safely. The trail itself is well-maintained, although route-finding can be difficult due to a lack of trail markers.
The hike sets out beside the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and quickly crosses over Fairmont Creek before beginning a loop through the beautiful forest. What little elevation gain there is on this hike is packed into a few steep stretches, so take your time along these portions and continue working your way along the forested loop. Eventually, you will arrive back at the trailhead where you began your hike.
Getting to the Montezuma’s Revenge Trailhead
To reach the parking area for Montezuma’s Revenge from Invermere, drive southeast on Highway BC-93 for 23.0 km and turn left on Fairmont Resort Road. In 1.7 km, you will find parking on either side of the road.
