The Johnson Junior Loop

The Johnson Junior Loop is a 6.1 km hiking route in Invermere made up of several different trails that are part of a dense network of hiking and mountain bike routes near Lillian Lake. This route is largely forested and winds through the dense tree cover to several scenic lookouts that offer views across the picturesque Columbia Valley. Make sure to bring a trail map or GPS as navigation in the area can be difficult due to the many intersecting paths.

Route Description for The Johnson Junior Loop
If you are looking for a fun, family-friendly hike in the Invermere area, then The Johnson Junior Loop is a great option to enjoy the outdoors while getting some exercise. The trail is made up of accessible terrain, and while navigation might be tricky amongst the interconnected web of trails, there is no real chance of getting lost as they are contained within a fairly small area. Make sure to use a trail map to stay on the correct route towards the scenic lookouts.
As you wind your way through the atmospheric forest landscape, you will eventually arrive at a series of vantage points on the edge of a canyon with the flowing waters of Toby Creek below. From here, you can gaze out across the valley towards Windermere Lake and the long range of mountains behind it. Continue along the trail to work your way through the forest and arrive back at the trailhead where you began your hike.
Getting to the The Johnson Junior Loop Trailhead
To access the parking area for The Johnson Junior Loop from Invermere, make your way to the northwest for 800 m along Panorama Drive and continue onto Toby Creek Road. After 5.4 km, turn right to arrive at the parking lot.
