Route Description for Inyo Craters Trail
As sections of the Inyo Craters Trail are not along designated Inyo National Forest pathways, care should be taken when attempting. We recommend bringing some sort of mapping tool with you in order to help in your wayfinding throughout the route. Likewise, to get to the trailhead you are required to drive along an unpaved section of roadway, so it is recommended that you use a vehicle capable of traversing such terrain.
Having arrived at the trailhead, follow the Inyo Craters Trail as it makes its way north. Continuing along the trail, you will arrive at the northern crater where - if you want to circumvent both craters - you are to leave the path and begin to walk around its northern edge. Continue to follow the edge of the northern crater until you reach its southern tip, where you will then continue on to the southern crater. After circumventing the southern crater, you will arrive back onto the pathway, where you will follow the Inyo Crater Trail back to the trailhead.
