Route Description for High Rigg and Tewet Tarn Walk
The High Rigg and Tewet Tarn Walk is a popular route in the Lake District for walkers of all skill levels that enjoy summiting peaks for the views rather than any real challenge. The trail sets out from the side of the road and heads to the south to climb up the rugged hillside of High Rigg. reaching the summit, you will have beautiful views of the surrounding Lake District terrain spread out before you. From here, follow the trail down the hillside to the north to eventually reach the quiet shores of Tewet Tarn. Enjoy this peaceful lakeside setting before traversing the open terrain to the south on the return to the trailhead where you began.
Getting to the High Rigg and Tewet Tarn Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the High Rigg and Tewet Tarn Walk from Keswick, head east on Penrith Road for 4.3 km and turn left, following the road for another 0.8 km. Make another left here and continue on for 0.6 km before turning right. In 0.5 km, you will find the trailhead on the right.
