Route Description for Star Lake via High Meadows Trail
Hiking the Star Lake via High Meadows Trail makes for an unforgettable experience. Wander the old fire road through meadowlands before escaping below the treeline of mixed pines and quaking aspens. This wonderful adventure, though taxing, offers breathtaking views, rationalizing the sweat! Be sure to pack plenty of water and dress accordingly, as much of the route is exposed! If you are one of the few daring enough to explore the route in the winter, be sure to wear snowshoes or microspikes to navigate the terrain more safely.
Embark on your adventure along the Star Lake via High Meadows Hike from the trailhead at the end of the High Meadows Trail (Road). Hiking along the High Meadows Road through meadowlands adorned with wildflowers. Enjoy the sights of the bounding Sierra Nevada Mountains; you will eventually reach an intersection with the Star Lake Trail. Veer right onto this route, hiking through mixed woodlands up to the charming alpine lake.
From the shoreline of the shimmering waters, you will be inspired by the sights of the dramatic cliffs that hem Star Lake. Rejuvenate your tired feet in the chilly waters, and when you are through admiring the views, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
