Caballero Canyon Trail

The Caballero Canyon Trail is a great moderate-length adventure near L.A. that features a rugged canyon landscape and scenic views. While out hiking the trail, you will make your way through the canyon, gaining elevation for sweeping views of Topanga State Park. Some sections of this route are a bit overgrown, so bring a GPS in order to stay on the correct path.

Route Description for Caballero Canyon Trail
If you are after a rugged adventure near Los Angeles that isn’t overly long, then the Caballero Canyon Trail is a great route to explore. When you’ve finished, be sure to check out the Caballero Canyon and Reseda Loop Trail.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southwest, following along the path as it runs parallel to the banks of Caballero Creek. Eventually arriving at a fork, you will keep right and continue further uphill for views across the undulating landscape.
From here, the route will continue east along Mulholland Drive for some more incredible views, before looping back around to the fork from earlier in your hike. At this point, simply retrace your steps back downhill through the canyon to return to the trailhead.
Getting to the Caballero Canyon Trail Trailhead
The starting point for the Caballero Canyon Trail can be found off Reseda Boulevard, just opposite the Braemar Country Club.
