Route Description for Inspiration Point Trail
The biggest downfall for the Inspiration Point Trail is the above mentioned high volumes of foot traffic that it sees, otherwise, it is a pleasant adventure with some amazing views. Be sure to wear proper hiking boots to traverse the undulating terrain.
A laidback trail, stunning Southern California views, and rich Hollywood history all make the Inspiration Point Trail an exceptional adventure in Los Angeles. The trail is situated on land that was once owned by early Hollywood star Will Rogers, and was a favorite of many elites who visited his estate. It is easy to see why, as the views from the trail sprawl out across the city and surrounding landscape. This is a wonderful excursion that you won’t want to miss!
Setting out from the parking area, you will follow the Backbone Trail as it leads to the northeast and through a junction. Shortly after, you will arrive at another junction and turn left onto the Inspiration Loop Trail.
Following this path uphill, your direction will temporarily change to the southwest to arrive at a series of scenic viewpoints overlooking a canyon landscape. After the second viewpoint, the trail will turn back to the north, climbing further uphill towards Inspiration Point.
Keeping left for the next 0.8 km, you will eventually come to a junction with a wide dirt path on your right. Turn right here and follow the path for a short distance to quickly arrive at Inspiration Point. Once there, take your time appreciating the gorgeous views that sprawl out across the greater Los Angeles area.
After taking in the views, you will head back to the main trail and turn right in order to begin the final leg of the hike. Keeping straight along the trail, you will eventually arrive back at the parking area after 1.8 km, wrapping up your time on the Inspiration Point Trail.
