Directions to Trailhead

Hiking the May Canyon Ridge Loop is a fun adventure near Los Angeles that features scenic views of the surrounding mountains and an easy to traverse, albeit steep, trail. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill along the May Canyon Truck Trail, before returning south along the ridge. Bring plenty of water and proper protection from the sun, as the trail is fairly exposed with little shade.

Route Description for May Canyon Ridge Loop

For those who want to experience a steep uphill climb without the hassle of uneven or rugged terrain, the May Canyon Ridge Loop is an excellent hiking route to explore near Los Angeles.

Setting out from the trailhead in Veterans Park, you will follow the May Canyon Truck Trail as it climbs uphill to the northwest. Here, you will quickly gain elevation and an incredible view across the undulating landscape, before turning to the southeast to arrive at the top of the ridge.

Following the path south, you will traverse the ridgeline and enjoy some more incredible views across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles further afield. Eventually, you will descend back into Veterans Park to wrap up your adventure.
