    Hiking the Runyon Canyon Trail is a fun experience in Los Angeles that will take you through a rugged canyon landscape with views of the city. While out on the trail, you will navigate an undulating stretch of terrain within Runyon Canyon Park, stopping at several vistas to appreciate the views overlooking L.A. While this hike isn’t overly difficult, there are some stretches of rugged terrain that make it unsuitable for younger children.

    Route Description for Runyon Canyon Trail

    Despite its fairly short overall distance, the Runyon Canyon Trail is a great hiking route with a bit of rugged terrain and little protection from the sun. Be sure to wear proper hiking footwear, bring plenty of water, and wear sunscreen. Additionally, this is a very popular hiking route in the area, so try to arrive early if you want to avoid congested trails and having to search for parking.

    Even with the high volumes of foot traffic, this is an excellent hiking route in Los Angeles that will produce some beautiful views across the city and will be sure to make you break a sweat. The hilly terrain that can be found within Runyon Canyon Park features some beautiful vistas, and the views are an ample reward for your hard work. If you are after a short and scenic hike without leaving the city, then this one should be near the top of your list!

    Setting out from the trailhead off N Fuller Avenue, you will make your way to the north for a short distance, before arriving at a junction in the path. Turn left here and follow the trail west, eventually turning right onto a fire road. After roughly 137 m, you will turn left onto the W Ridge Hiking Trail.

    Following this path to the north, you will begin to gain elevation as you climb up the rugged landscape of the park. Eventually, you will arrive at the northernmost point of the hike where the trail meets the fire road and turn right, following the road southeast for 0.6 km.

    Here, you will take the path on the left and follow it to the Cloud’s Rest and Inspiration Point vistas, where you will be able to enjoy some wonderfully scenic views of Los Angeles. After taking in the views, you will continue south to arrive back at the trailhead where you started your adventure along the Runyon Canyon Trail.
