Route Description for Brazil Ranch Trail
The Brazil Ranch Trail is a must add to your hiking itinerary. The next time you find yourself in Big Sur, be sure to take a detour and indulge yourself in the coastal beauty along this route. Hike amongst grazing cattle atop the headlands. Marvel in the picture-perfect scenery of the dramatic coastline and surging surf while getting your steps in. Note this area sees extreme conditions, so expect fog and wind as you hike!
Once your camera is charged you can begin your adventure. Setting out from the parking lot off State Route 1, follow the Coast Road, merging onto the leftmost footpath. This route will wind, gradually climbing up to the intersection with the Brazil Ranch Road. From here, turn right onto the Brazil Ranch Trail. This route will redirect you southeastwardly, tracing the coastline. Revel in the scenes of the surging surf crashing over the craggy rocks that decorate the waters.
Enjoy the scene of the nearby cattle, and you will eventually reach the route’s end. From here, you will be granted impressive views of the sandy beaches below and the beautiful coastline. When you are through admiring the scenery, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
