Route Description for Coast Ridge Road to Terrace Creek Trail
This epic trail will deliver intrepid explorers to an epic overlook atop the Pacific Ocean. Rewarding you for your efforts with incredible views, this route is unlike no other. Note much of the terrain is exposed, and the afternoon heat can be unbearable, so make sure you wear plenty of SPF and pack plenty of water to stay hydrated! If you want to beat the heat, head out in the early morning, or better yet—in the evening so you can watch the sunset before stargazing!
Setting out from the trailhead and parking lot, the Coast Ridge Road to Terrace Creek Trail follows the N Coast Ridge Road northeast through redwood tree stands. The further you climb along the wide fire route, the increasingly exposed the terrain will become. Winding through the redwoods and chaparral shrubs, you will be rewarded with impressive views to keep you motivated along the way.
You will ultimately reach the trail’s end at Mile 4, at the intersection with the Terrace Creek Trail. At this point, you will be rewarded with impressive views of the Pacific and dramatic headlands. After reveling in the views, retrace your footing back down the road to the trailhead.
