Route Description for Montecito Peak Trail

The Montecito Peak Hike is a wonderful adventure worth adding to your adventure itinerary. Put your stamina to the test as you scramble up the mountainside to the summit. Note that the terrain is exposed near the peak, and the terrain is rocky—so careful footing and sun protection are essential! Also, wear supportive footwear to safeguard your ankles!

Your adventure along the Montecito Peak Hike begins from the Ridge Trailhead off E Mountain Drive. From here, the Ridge Trail will guide you up through the lush woodlands to an intersection with the Ediston Catway. Follow this route east, merging onto the East Fork Cold Spring Trail. This route will guide you all the way to the summit of Montecito Peak. Revel in the beauty of the dramatic landscape and rest and rehydrate. After reveling in the wonderful views, retrace your steps down the East Fork Cold Spring Trail, continuing along this route over East Fork Montecito Creek to the trail’s end.

At this point, keep left onto the Cold Spring Trail, which will ultimately deliver you back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
