The Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail is a short, family-friendly hike to a beautiful overlook. This hike is not to be confused with the Delicate Arch Trail that leads up to the arch itself; you can learn more about the Delicate Arch access trail here. This hike is a great alternative to the access trail which can be extremely busy during the summer months.

Route Description for Delicate Arch Viewpoint

The Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail is a great hike for the whole family. This trail does get hot in the desert sun so, as with any hike in Arches, be sure to bring lots of water for everyone in your group. The Viewpoint trail is a fantastic alternative to the more popular Delicate Arch Trail and rewards hikers with beautiful views of this iconic sandstone formation.

From the trailhead, follow the well-defined path northeast past the info-boards. The trail goes on for a short 0.5 km to the overlook.

At the viewpoint, admire Delicate Arch to the north and take a moment to rest. When you are ready to go home (or on to the next adventure), just turn around and follow your footsteps back to the parking lot.

Getting to the Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trailhead

From the Visitor Center off of highway 191, follow Main Park Road for 19.8 km as it snakes northward. Take a right onto Delicate Arch Road and continue past the first parking area (this is the Delicate Arch access trail trailhead) to the second parking area on the left—this is the Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trailhead.
