Lost Lake Loop Hike

The Lost Lake Loop Hike is a fantastic outdoor adventure in Mount Hood National Forest that will take you around the shoreline of a peaceful body of water. While out on the trail, you will meander through a beautiful woodland landscape and experience wonderful views that stretch out across the calm surface of Lost Lake. Hikers should take note that this is a dog-friendly trail, although canine companions must be kept on a leash at all times.

Route Description for Lost Lake Loop Hike
Day trippers and weekend campers alike will enjoy this quick and easy trail situated in the beautiful expanse of Mount Hood National Forest. A stunning lakeside setting, easy to navigate trail, and the opportunity to camp close by at the Lost Lake Resort make this the ideal spot for a weekend getaway with the family.
This route can be done in either direction, but for the sake of this guide you will follow along the shoreline in a counterclockwise direction. Setting out from the North Day Use area, make your way along the Lakeshore Trail as it leads to the southwest. After trekking through the forest, the tree cover will eventually lessen, providing some open views across Lost Lake.
After crossing over Inlet Creek, the trail will bend to the southeast. Here, you will continue through the woodland landscape, enjoying intermittent views across the surface of the water as you round the southeast corner of the lake. Now heading back to the north, you will pass by the campground and Lost Lake Resort on the way into the trailhead where you began.

The trailhead for the Lost Lake Loop Hike can be found along North Road, just west of the Lost Lake Campground.
