Boulder Mountain Lookout
The Boulder Mountain Lookout is a quick 2.4 km out-and-back hiking route in Revelstoke that leads up to a vantage point overlooking the city. While the route is largely forested, it does break out onto a rocky outcrop to provide awesome views of the surrounding area, including the majestic Mount Mackenzie. This is a great family hike that is fairly easy but offers a big wow-factor.

Route Description for Boulder Mountain Lookout
The hike up to Boulder Mountain Lookout is a pretty simple hike through the forest that will lead you up to a viewpoint that looks out over the Columbia River and the city of Revelstoke. While the trail does have an elevation gain of 190 m, it is more than manageable by hikers of all skill levels and will certainly be enjoyed by young kids. After hiking through the forest, you will eventually break out of the tree cover and be greeted by a picturesque view across the river valley. From your rocky vantage point, you will be able to spot Mount Revelstoke across the water, as well as the tall peaks of Mount Mackenzie and Mount Cartier in the background. For the effort, this is a rewarding hike that everyone can enjoy.
Getting to the Boulder Mountain Lookout Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Boulder Mountain Lookout from Revelstoke, head west along BC-1 and cross over the Columbia River. 300 m after the bridge, turn right onto Westside Road and follow it for 2.0 km. You will find the trailhead on the left side of the road.
