The Gouthwaite Reservoir Circular Walk is a wonderful stroll that boasts views of the countryside and a stunning reservoir nestled between the villages of Wath and Ramsgill. The reservoir’s impressive 27 m dam towers over the water and is mostly covered with trees. It is also home to many species of birds and waterfowl and has been designated as a Site of Specific Interest.

Route Description for Gouthwaite Reservoir Circular Walk
The Gouthwaite Reservoir Circular Walk in Nidderdale is a lovely place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Beginning at the car park, take in the views that are already visible of the reservoir and when you are finished, head to the marked path. Throughout this walk you will continue to follow the path as it takes you around the reservoir in a circular path. As you continue to walk, you can explore different vantage points that this walk offers and keep a lookout for the many bird and waterfowl species that call this area home. As you continue to follow the winding path, you will arrive back at the car park as this is a circuit walk.
Getting to the Gouthwaite Reservoir Circular Walk Trailhead
To get to the Gouthwaite Reservoir Circular Walk from Harrogate, head south on Prospect Place toward Albert Street and turn right at the 1st cross street onto Albert Street. Turn right onto W Park/A61, and at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Ripon Road/A61. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto B6165 and continue onto B6265. Turn right onto Low Wath Road, and in 3.9 km, you will arrive at your destination.
