Route Description for Panorama Park Loop

Panorama Park is located in the picturesque town of Deep Cove, which is a popular destination for weekend and holiday outings along the North Shore of BC. As a result, parking in the area can be difficult to navigate, so it is best to arrive early to beat the crowds or park at the nearby elementary school on Raeburn Street to ensure that you find a spot.

While the area can become very busy, the Panorama Park Loop is a great trail for strolling along the harbourfront at Deep Cove. This short trail follows along an easily-accessible paved pathway that loops through the park and skirts along the shoreline. Take in the beautiful views of the harbour from the pier and experience the local flare of the shops and restaurants in the village. This is a fun little trail that is best enjoyed as an afternoon spent with friends and family.

Setting out from the parking area along Panorama Drive, make your way south to meet up with the wide paved trail next to the Seymour Art Gallery. Follow the path to the left as it skirts alongside the strip of buildings and makes its way towards the water. Keeping left at the junction in the trail, follow the path as it circles around the Panorama Park Playground and converges on a four-way intersection near the water.

Take the trail to the right as it heads south through the trees and crosses over Gallant Creek. From here, take the trail to the left that will appear shortly before the roundabout, following it as it nears the rocky edge of the water. Continue south and keep straight through any junctions in the trail as you loop around the Deep Cove Kayak Centre.

At the southern tip of the trail, there are a few paths that split off from the main route. If you want to extend the length of your hike, you can take these paths through the forest and into Deep Cove Park for a short 1.3 km detour.

Continue along the main path as it turns north and follows closely along the water’s edge. Approximately 75 m from the Deep Cove Kayak Centre, you will pass by the Deep Cove Government Dock. This is open to the public, so feel free to walk the expanse of the pier to get some great views of the deep emerald green waters of Deep Cove, with its many boats and mountainous backdrop.

Back on the main trail, continue north as you pass by the Deep Cove Yacht Club, keeping straight on the path as it hugs the rocky beach. From here, the trail will pass through the middle of the park, making its way to the northern edge of the route near the picnic shelter. When you reach the end of the trail at Panorama Drive, make a left on the path to turn south and complete the remainder of the loop.

Having completed the Panorama Park Loop, take some time to explore the amenities of the park or take part in some of the watersports that are on offer around Deep Cove. Don’t forget to stop in at one of the great restaurants that can be found in the village for a quick lunch, or break out the picnic basket and make use of the recreational areas of the park with its scenic backdrop.
