Rivers Trail

The Rivers Trail is a 12.9 km out-and-back hiking route in Kamloops, BC, that follows closely alongside the Thompson River to provide scenic views of the mountainous landscape. The hike borders the Tranquille Wildlife Management Area to the west and passes through the narrow tract of land between the river and the airport, reaching its terminus at Crestline Park. This route features flat, well-maintained trails that are suitable for hikers of all skill levels, including dogs.

Route Description for Rivers Trail
The Rivers Trail is a great family-friendly hike in Kamloops that will allow you to experience the natural beauty of the landscape surrounding the Thompson River, in addition to getting some easy exercise along a well-kept trail. The trail sets out from the parking area and follows along a creek before turning to the east on a path that runs parallel to the Thompson River. From here, you will have some amazing views across the water to the surrounding mountains while you effortlessly stroll along the water’s edge. After passing by a small marshy area, continue along the trail beyond the airport buildings towards Crestline Park. When you have reached the end of the trail, turn back and retrace your footsteps while gaining a new perspective of the picturesque river landscape on the way to the parking area where you began.
Getting to the Rivers Trail Trailhead
To reach the parking area for the Rivers Trail from Kamloops, head west on Tranquille Road for 9.7 km and turn left to enter the parking area.
