Killynether Wood Loop

The Killynether Wood Loop is a lovely adventure just outside of Newtownards, Northern Ireland that will expose you to a beautifully tranquil stretch of forest. While out walking the trail, you will pass by the Killynether Gardens and make your way along the wooded slopes of Scrabo Hill, before arriving at a charming little pond. This is a quick and easy walk to do when you don’t have much time, but still want to get out and enjoy nature.

Route Description for Killynether Wood Loop
Whether you are looking to get a bit of exercise or simply escape the city for a bit of relaxation in the forest, the Killynether Wood Loop is an excellent trail that will be sure to meet your needs. Featuring serene woodlands, pretty gardens, and a quaint pond, this route has everything you need for a few fun hours on the trail.
Setting out from the car park, you will head to the northwest and immediately pass by the Killynether Gardens, before continuing on through the forest. After climbing uphill along the wooded hillside, you will escape the cover of the trees and arrive at the edge of a lovely pond.
After spending a few relaxing moments here, you will turn back along the trail and re-enter the forest, keeping left up the hillside to skirt along the edge of the Scrabo Golf Club. From here, you will continue through the tranquil forest and loop around the southern slope of Scrabo Hill on the return to the trailhead.
Getting to the Killynether Wood Loop Trailhead
The Killynether Wood Loop trailhead can be found along Scrabo Road, just 0.5 km west of the entrance to the Scrabo Golf Club
