Route Description for Stormont Estate Circular Walk

Stormont Estate Circular Walk
If you are looking to get out for a spot of exercise, take in green open space, and explore one of Belfast’s most recognisable landmarks, the Stormont Estate Circular Walk is an easy and rewarding option. Located on the eastern edge of the city, the Stormont Estate offers a mix of parkland, mature woodland, and formal avenues leading up to the Parliament Buildings.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will head west through woodland paths that pass the gatehouse and Stormont Gate, before turning north to follow the edge of the Stormont Estate. This section feels pleasantly removed from the city, with wide paths and plenty of tree cover, making it a popular route for walkers, runners, and families.

After taking in the views and the impressive neoclassical architecture, the route loops back into the forest and begins a gentle climb. Heading southeast, you will pass historic buildings associated with the former Stormont Estate, including Stormont Castle, before completing the return leg back to the starting point.
