    The Hartside and Hedgehope Hill Walk is a rugged adventure in Northumberland that will take you up to a summit vantage point with sweeping views across the landscape. While out on the trail, you will visit the beautiful Linhope Spout Waterfall, before climbing up the steep hillside to reach the top of Hedgehope hill for some amazing views. Terrain along this route can be a bit rough and boggy, so be sure to wear proper walking boots with good support.

    Route Description for Hartside and Hedgehope Hill Walk

    If you have been searching for an amazing walking route in Northumberland that features a stunning waterfall and rugged terrain with exceptional views, then the Hartside and Hedgehope Hill Walk is the perfect route for you to get out and explore this beautiful part of Northern England.

    Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way west along the road to pass by the Linhope Estate, following the track as it leads to the northwest along the lower slopes of Ritto Hill. After arriving at a fork, you will bear right towards some trees, where you will find the tranquil and secluded waters of Linhope Spout cascading into a pool below.

    After taking in the natural beauty of the falls, you will make your way to the northwest in order to cross over Linhope Burn, before following the path in a more northern direction. Here, the trail will begin to steepen, as you climb your way up to the summit viewpoint atop Hedgehope Hill and experience sweeping views across the Northumberland landscape. After you’ve wrapped up your time on top of this scenic peak, you will retrace your steps along the trail to return to the trailhead where you started.
