The Cheviots and Hedgehope Hill Walk is a spectacular outdoor adventure in Northumberland that makes a steep ascent of Hedgehope Hill for some incredible views of the surrounding landscape. While out walking the trail, you will cross over Harthope Burn and cut across the open moorland, working your way up the steep hillside for a commanding view of the surrounding hills from atop Hedgehope Hill. While not technically difficult, walkers should not underestimate the challenge that this steep route will present.
Route Description for The Cheviots and Hedgehope Hill Walk
If you find yourself in Northumberland and are looking for a walking route that will be sure to get your heartrate up and leave your legs feeling weak by the end, then the Cheviots and Hedgehope Hill Walk is the perfect trail for you. Setting out from the car park, you will make your way initially to the southwest along the road for a short distance, before turning left onto a footpath. Following the trail to the southeast, you will cross over the banks of Harthope Burn and begrin traversing the barren landscape of the moor. Here, you will notice that the trail will begin to steepen, as you make the arduous climb up to the summit of Hedgehope Hill. From the top of this 2343ft tall hill, you will enjoy sweeping views across the Northumberland countryside that includes numerous hills, forests, and wide open farmland. Once you have taken in the natural beauty from this hilltop perech, you will head back down the trail along the same route in order to return to the car park where you started.Getting to the The Cheviots and Hedgehope Hill Walk Trailhead
