The canyon is always a gorgeous place to hike, and this route adds on a fun treat to the end of this already enjoyable hike. Expect moderate traffic on this trail.
Route Description for Lone Tree via Peralta Canyon Trail
This route guide follows Peralta Canyon Trail through the canyon and adds on an extension to the Lone Tree, a lone pine tree. This trail boasts excellent views from multiple points, and you can take in the canyon scenery with its hoodoos and rock formations. The section to the tree will be less busy than the hike through the canyon, which is popular.
This canyon can get very hot. Bring plenty of water with you and avoid hiking during the heat of the day. Remember that dogs are not allowed on this trail.
From the trailhead, you’ll take the obvious route up into the canyon. Navigation through this part of the hike is simple; continue following the canyon as it climbs steadily. The route will cross over to the other side near the top before launching into switchbacks. At Fremont Saddle, bear right to the other trail, then take a left and hike straight ahead to the tree. From here, retrace your steps.s
