Pima East Loop
The Pima East Loop is an easy hike in Phoenix’s South Mountain Preserve. While this preserve has a few steep, demanding trails, this isn’t one of them. The Pima East Loop is super laid-back with no significant climbs and generally even footing. The entire hike is only 3.2 km long and any skill level can enjoy it. Expect light traffic, which is another bonus.

Route Description for Pima East Loop
The Pima East Loop is a quick little hike in the northeastern end of South Mountain Preserve in Phoenix. This hike is 3.2 km long and rated as easy. We’d recommend it for any skill level, especially when you want to get outside but don’t have much time. You could also use this as a warm-up for other hikes in the preserve. This route doesn’t tend to get very busy, either.
From the trailhead, backtrack along the road to where the trail takes off sharply to your left. Follow it across the Pima Wash on the Pima West Loop Trail. Where the trail forks, stay right onto Pima East Loop Trail.
Continue along this trail as it makes its way around the small hills. You’ll generally keep to your left as you make your way around. The trail turns south, and you’ll bear right onto the Pima West Loop to return to the trailhead.
Getting to the Pima East Loop Trailhead
The trailhead for Pima East Loop is at the end of E Pima Canyon Road.
