Ruth Hamilton Trail
Ruth Hamilton Trail is a 5.0 km moderately difficult hike in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. This is a fairly relaxed trail with just enough incline to get a sweat on but no significant challenges. This trail ends at the Phoenix Mountain Park, so you are welcome to spend some time enjoying the park in the midpoint of your hike. It’s good for families and beginners and it welcomes dogs on leash. Expect heavy traffic on this route.

Route Description for Ruth Hamilton Trail
Ruth Hamilton Trail is a lovely hike in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. This 5.0 km has just enough elevation change to get your heart rate up, but it’s still easy enough for families and beginners. The scenery is great, with the desert’s hills and saguaros filling up your view. The route nearly reaches the Phoenix Mountain Park at the turnaround point.
From the trailhead, hike out along #8A Quartz Ridge Trail. At the fork, stay right to remain on this trail (Trail 200A branches off to the left). The route climbs gently out of the wash and then takes a turn to your left. Pass the intersection of #88 and hike up through the saddle ahead. Descend down the other side, ending your outbound journey at the T-junction. From here, retrace your steps to the trailhead.
