Two Bit and Rattle Saddle Loop
The Two Bit and Rattle Saddle Trail is a moderately challenging hike in the Phoenix’s Mountain Preserve near Piestewa Peak. While you might need to keep an eye on your GPS to help navigate on this one, you’ll be able to enjoy views of Phoenix’s tallest mountains and plenty of the lower hills in the preserve. Expect light traffic.

Route Description for Two Bit and Rattle Saddle Loop
The Two Bit and Rattle Saddle Loop is a beautiful hike near Piestewa Peak in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. This route shows off some of the most impressive mountains in the city from its viewpoints. You might need to keep an eye on your GPS track as there are lots of junctions and turns to mind.
From the 40th Street trailhead, take Trail 8 to the intersection with Trail 100 and turn left. Stay left at the next fork to stay on #8. At the 4-way junction, go left, then go right at the next one.
This begins your ascent. Follow the signage for Two Bits Peak. Don’t be tempted to trailblaze the offshoot path as it dead-ends. From atop Dixie Peak, head back downhill and take a left on Trail #100. Cross the wash and continue until you take a right, then a left up a small peak before heading up the ridgeline. From atop the bonus peak, continue off the other side of the ridge, take a right, then take a left to follow Tatum Wash to the trailhead.
