Route Description for Limantour Beach Trail
The Limantour Beach Trail is short, but you could easily spend the day here. Bring a ball, have a picnic, and sun on the shoreline while enjoying the sounds of the crashing waves. If you bring your pup, it is important to note they must remain on leash! Additionally, this area sees extreme wind and fog, so check the forecast and dress accordingly! This area is subject to wildlife closure to safeguard the nursing seal population; refer to the NPS website for additional details.
Embark on your adventure along the Limantour Beach Trail from the Beach Access Trailhead. From here, you will be guided south down to Limantour Beach. Note: there is no explicit trail, so simply wander as you please! We turned right on the beach and headed west along its sandy expanse. Marvel in the views of the crashing surf and keep an eye out for elephant seals playing in the waters or sunning on the beach!
Admire the beauty of the layered sediment headlands that hem the beach. You can easily customize this route to your liking, turning around whenever you are ready! We headed to the beach’s end, then turned around and headed back to the trailhead.
