Route Description for Bear Lake to Bierstadt Lake Trail
The Bear Lake to Bierstadt Lake Trail reveals the stunning scenery of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Hike through the verdant wilderness and around two alpine lakes. This trek is manageable for kids and novice hikers alike. Venture into the lush woodlands along the Bear Lake to Bierstadt Lake Trail. Note this area of the park is highly trafficked, so if you want to avoid the annoyance of parking, consider taking the free shuttle. Don’t forget to purchase a park pass to access these hikes!
Departing from the Bear Lake Trailhead, the Bear Lake to Bierstadt Lake Hike follows the Bear Lake Trail north. Hike along the shoreline and at the first intersection, veer right and you will be diverted onto the Bierstadt Trail. Hike up the rocky ridge to an intersection. Here, stay right again and hike beneath the coverage of the towering pines. Eventually, you will confront another junction, again, keep right. At the next intersection, track counterclockwise around the Trail Around Lake Bierstadt. Admire the shimmering lake and the mountainous landscape looming above.
When you loop around the lake, retrace your steps back along the route to the trailhead and parking lot.
