Route Description for Finch Lake via Allenspark Trail
The Finch Lake via Allenspark Trail is one of our favorite forested hikes in the RMNP, and we know it will be one of yours too. This scenic wilderness excursion is wonderful for those seeking a relaxing woodland adventure or introductory hike in the National Park. Note there are steep segments of the trail, so we recommend sturdy footwear and trekking poles for those who struggle with joint pain. Located within the park, visitors are required to purchase a pass to utilize the trails.
Embark on your adventure along the Finch Lake via Allenspark Trail from the trailhead. From the Allenspark Trailhead and Parking Lot, the path tracks northwestward beneath the timberline. Ascend the forested terrain, letting the fresh air fill your lungs. As you travel further into the wilderness, the path will pass granite outcropping before delivering you to a junction. Here, veer left, and you will be diverted onto the Finch Lake- Pear Lake Trail. Track southwest along the path and it will eventually guide you to the shore of Finch Lake.
Revel in the charm of the small, shimmering lake ringed by verdant pine trees. Notice also the picturesque snow-capped peaks that sit in the background. Admire the beauty of the Colorado wilderness, and when you are ready, retrace your steps along the route all the way back to the trailhead.
