    Memorial

Originally opened in 1924 as “a lasting memorial to the hero dead of Utah'', Memory Grove Park has continued to serve as an important war memorial for the people of Salt Lake City. In 1926, shortly after the park’s opening, a German cannon was installed by the Disabled American Veterans’ Argonne Chapter #1, and the next year the 145th Field Artillery Monument was installed by the Utah National Guard. In 1932, a memorial column and pergola were built in the park’s southern end, and In 1946, the Meditation Chapel was built to honor the veterans of, and those lost in World War II.

Over the years, the park has accumulated a number of plaques and military artifacts dedicated in remembrance of American military service people. Notably, the Korean War Wall of Honor was constructed by the Utah Korean War Memorial Committee, and a replica of the Liberty Bell and Tower was completed in 1979 to celebrate the park's Bicentennial.

Visitors to Memory Grove are encouraged to spend time at each memorial site to honor the lives of those who fought for freedom.
