Route Description for The Hump
The Hump is a beautiful hike in Salt Lake City, Utah. This trail is moderately challenging, with a steep incline to a small summit. Proper hiking footwear is essential on this trail. If you are hiking in the late winter or early spring, we recommend bringing along a set of traction devices such as microspikes as this trail tends to get icy. Located just south of the University of Utah Campus, the hike up the Hump makes for a fantastic study break where you can clear your mind, get some fresh air, and catch some fantastic views.
From the trailhead, follow the path on your right as it winds northeast before curving south to the top of the Hump.
Take a rest at the top and catch your breath before turning around and retracing your footsteps back to the trailhead where you began.
Getting to the The Hump Trailhead
This trail begins on the north side of Emigration Canyon Road just across from the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City.
