Route Description for Lands End to Golden Gate Bridge Hike
The Lands End to Golden Gate Bridge Hike is a magnificent adventure along the coastline that offers a diversity of views. Indulge in the scenes of Baker Beach, the Marin Headlands, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and more. Though this path is easy-going, a few steep segments of terrain demand some stamina. Additionally, much of this route is exposed, warranting extreme conditions, including wind, sun, and/or fog—so dress in layers and wear SPF! Don’t forget to leave a car or arrange for pickup at the trail’s end!
Embark on your adventure along the Lands End to Golden Gate Bridge Hike from the trailhead off Point Lobos Avenue. Setting out from here, the Coastal Trail wanders north, offering views of the Mile Rock Lighthouse, the Marin Headlands, and the harbor. Continue hiking past Seal Rock Beach and down through the Labyrinth to an epic lookout of the Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy the views, then continue along the Coastal Trail past several historic batteries and past Baker Beach.
Marvel in the maritime views, then head down and explore Marshall Beach via the Batteries to Bluffs Trail. Reconnect with the Coastal Trail and meander this scenic path past more batteries and under the Golden Gate Bridge to the route’s end at the Welcome Center.
