Route Description for Colorado Trail to Gudy’s Rest
One of the key players in the creation of the Colorado Trail was Gudy Gaskill, and this fun hiking route with a scenic viewpoint named in her honor is one of the best ways to spend a day outdoors exploring the natural beauty of the state.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northwest along the winding banks of Junction Creek, following the water as it cuts across the picturesque valley landscape. After hiking through the forest and passing by the Junction Creek Campground, you will eventually arrive at a bridge crossing over the creek.
Once you are on the opposite bank, you will follow the trail to the southwest for a short distance, before traversing a series of switchbacks leading up to the viewpoint known as Gudy’s Rest. Grab a seat on the bench and take a few moments to appreciate the views, before heading back along the same path to return to the trailhead where you began your adventure along the Colorado Trail.
