    Route Description for Twin Lakes Reservoir and Interlaken Hike

    The Twin Lakes Reservoir and Interlaken Trail is a must-add to your Colorado hiking itinerary. This exciting excursion exhibits the beauty of Colorado high country and the novelty of its historical past. Pleasing both outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike, the undulating path does demand some stamina. Located at a high elevation with rolling terrain, this adventure will tire you but won’t over-exhaust you! Open year-round, this versatile trek can be explored even after the snowfall, just strap on a pair of snowshoes, and you are ready to roll!

    Embark on your excursion along the Twin Lakes Reservoir and Interlaken Hike from the Twin Lakes Trailhead. From here, the Colorado Trail Segment 11 will guide hikers west along a forested ridge that exhibits sights of the glittering alpine waters below. Enjoy views of adventurers enjoying the waters below as you make your way to the Historic Interlaken Resort. Explore the grounds of the resort and the Dexter Cabin before continuing west along the route. As you near your adventure’s end, the terrain will become increasingly exposed, revealing awe-inspiring views of Colorado’s highest peak, Mount Elbert, looming above.

    You will meet your turnaround point at the intersection with the Bermuda Triangle Trail. If you still have some gas left in the tank, feel free to continue exploring. If not, backtrack along the path to the trailhead.
