Route Description for Lower Chimney Rock Loop
Lower Chimney Rock sits above northwestern Sedona, and this trail takes you all of the way around this tiny mountain. This is a great quick win if you want a fast hike that still offers pleasant views. This trail can also be extended using the many interconnecting trails in the area. Expect heavy traffic; getting to the Thunder Mountain Trailhead early is recommended.
From the trailhead, begin your hike around Little Chimney Rock. You’ll head up to where the trail splits and turn left. There’s a trail that leads up the rock if you want a viewpoint, although it’s a bit rocky and requires some climbing. Continue your loop around the south side of the rock, returning to the trailhead. You can easily add on the Chimney Rock Pass Loop for a longer adventure if you’d like.
