Route Description for Oak Creek Trail

The Oak Creek Trail goes from the Crescent Moon Ranch down along the creek to a vortex with a nice view of Cathedral Rock. Crescent Moon Ranch is a popular place for picnicking, swimming, games, and relaxing in the summer sun. Locals and visitors alike come here to spend sunny afternoons, splash in the water, and hold special events. It’s a great place to start and end your hike.

There is a rustic cabin on site that was built by ranchers of the original homestead here. It can be rented if you’d like a very unique, very authentic stay.

This hike is easy and short and it doesn’t require you to cross Oak Creek as other nearby trails do. This is a perk if you’re not wanting to get your feet wet since there’s no bridge.

We definitely recommend bringing a picnic, a deck of cards, and some blankets and beach towels. You’ll want to spend some time relaxing in this beautiful spot before or after your hike!

The hike begins from the picnic site. Hike down to the creek and follow along the water past the old cabin. You’ll follow the water to Red Rock Crossing, enjoying the babbling flow, the trees, the red earth, and the surrounding mountains. Admire the perfect view of Cathedral Rock right above you and take a few photos of this popular scene.

Some claim there’s a vortex at the end of this trail. The reality of the vortex sites in Sedona is up in the air, but see if you feel any change in energy here.

Once you’ve snapped your photos, head back to the picnic area the same way you came out.
