The Barcombe Cross and Mills Walk takes you on a beautiful journey in the English countryside that showcases views along the River Ouse. Beginning Barcombe Cross High Street, follow the path and maneuver stiles, gates and footbridges and fields until you reach Anchor Lane. Continue along the markers, and you will come across the old railway. As you move on, you will pass through more open fields, gates and stiles and will come across a large footbridge.
Crossing the bridge will lead you towards the Barcombe Mills. Take in the views of Barcombe Mills, and the old toll houses and after navigating quite a few more stiles, gates and footbridges, you will come to Culver Farm Road. Wander through the farmers’ fields, following the path, and you will arrive at Barcombe Church. Take a moment to explore this area and then continue along the path, and you will reach the car park where you began as this is a circular path.
Getting to the Barcombe Cross and Mills Walk Trailhead
To get to the Barcombe Cross and Mills Walk from Lewes, head east on Castle Precincts toward Castle Ditch Lane, turn left onto Mount Place and turn right onto West Street/A2029. Use any lane to turn slightly right onto Little East Street/A2029 and, at the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Malling Street/A26. In 2.8mi, turn left and then turn right at Barcombe Mills Road, and you will arrive at your destination.Route Information
