Route Description for Mosquito Lakes to Bull Run Lake Hike
Immerse yourself in the high country along the Mosquito Lakes to Bull Run Lakes Trail. This scenic adventure will get your heart rate up without over-exhausting you. This incredibly scenic route travels over uneven, granite terrain, so we encourage you to wear a sturdy pair of footwear to safeguard your ankles. Additionally, as much of this high-altitude trek is exposed, it is important to check the forecast and be mindful of afternoon storms. Note a day permit is required and can be picked up from the trailhead.
Embark on your adventure along the Mosquito Lakes to Bull Run Lake Hike from the Mosquito Lake Campground. From here you will be guided away from the shimmering waters of the Mosquito Lakes and onto the Pack Trail. This route tracks south, climbing up through the granite terrain to a rocky ridge. From here you will be granted views of the encompassing mountains through the tree breaks. The path will gently undulate before dipping down into a gorge. Here you will intersect with the Bull Run Creek.
At this point, the path will be rerouted southeast up to the Bull Run Lake. Admire the beauty of the crystalline lake reflecting the granite ridges of Bull Run Peak above. When you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
