Route Description for Mount Reba via Lake Alpine Hike
Explore the alpine terrain along the Mount Reba via Lake Alpine Hike. This wonderful adventure offers the best of both worlds—scenes of an alpine lake and mountain views from atop the craggy peak. This path is not for the faint of heart, demanding stamina and a good pair of footwear. When trekking in the late fall, we urge you to pack a pair of microspikes in case the high-altitude terrain is snow-packed. Additionally, we encourage you to head out in the early morning to mitigate the chances of getting caught in an afternoon storm at the summit.
Setting out from the trailhead, the Mount Reba via Lake Alpine Hike follows the Bee Gulch Trail. This route will guide you west before redirecting north, guiding adventures up the steep gulch. Wander up the gulch you will weave between thin pine forest and lush meadowlands. As you hike, be mindful of rattlesnakes sunning on the rocky outcrops. Continue trekking along the Bee Gulch Trail, and you will eventually reach an intersection with Reba Road. From here, take the middle rough signposted for Mount Reba and track northwest along the rocky ridge to the summit.
From atop Mount Reba, you will be rewarded with a commanding view of Mokelumne Peak and the Mokelumne River Canyon below. You will also be granted distant views of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains. Revel in the scenery, and when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
