Gibraltar Lookout Hike

The journey to the Gibraltar Lookout follows a 6.1 km out-and-back hiking route that climbs uphill through the forest to reach an amazingly scenic viewpoint. From the top of the trail, you will have a spectacular view across the vast forests of the Sunshine Coast, as well as the blue expanse of the Strait of Georgia. With favourable terrain and a steady incline all the way up to the viewpoint, this is a great trail for hikers of almost any skill level.

Route Description for Gibraltar Lookout Hike
Hiking to the Gibraltar Lookout is a fun and easy way to catch some amazing views overlooking the varied landscape of the Sunshine Coast. Setting out from the trailhead, follow the path into the forest as it begins a gentle uphill climb that will be maintained for the duration of the hike. With the exception of the bluffs at the end of the trail, this hike takes place under the shady cover of the tree canopy, making it a great option for an excursion during the heat of summer. Eventually you will break free of the forest and arrive at the Gibraltar Bluffs, with an amazing view that stretches south across the forest and rugged hills, and sweeps west towards the pristine coastal landscape along the Strait of Georgia. After taking in the breathtaking views, make your way back along the same route to return to the trailhead.
Getting to the Gibraltar Lookout Hike Trailhead
To get to the trailhead for the Gibraltar Lookout from Sliammon, drive west along BC-101 for 3.9 km and make a right turn onto Southview Road. You will find the trailhead on the left after 3.4 km.
