    Directions to Trailhead

    The Nuu Chah Nulth Trail is a 6.1 km out-and-back hiking route that sets out from the Kwisitis Visitor Centre and heads through the forest to visit several stunning beaches. Along the trail, you will have access to viewpoints overlooking Wickaninnish Beach and Lismer Beach before making the trek through the forest to reach the edge of Florencia Bay. From there, hikers can backtrack through the forest and finish the day by descending to the stellar white sandy shores of South Beach. This is a perfect hike if you love fantastic beach views and hiking along boardwalks through beautiful temperate rainforests.

    Route Description for Nuu Chah Nulth Trail

    The Nuu Chah Nulth Trail is a fun and exciting hike near Tofino that will provide you with the opportunity to traverse stretches of wooden boardwalk through a beautiful rainforest setting and visit stunning viewpoints along the Pacific Ocean. With an easy-to-navigate trail and picturesque scenery, this hike is sure to be a hit with all types of hikers. Although, it should be noted that the section of trail leading to South Beach descends a series of stairs and might be difficult for travellers with limited mobility.

    The trail sets out from the parking lot and immediately meets up with a viewing deck next to the visitor centre that overlooks the beautiful shoreline of Wickaninnish Beach. Continuing along the path, hikers will come to a vantage point for the secluded Lismer Beach. Shortly after, a trail branches off to the left and heads through the temperate rainforest to eventually end up at the edge of the beautiful Florencia Bay.

    After taking in the sights, head back along the trail to reach the junction and turn left on a course leading down to South Beach. From here, you will need to descend along the wooden steps until you reach the beach area to be greeted with amazing views of the rugged coastal landscape and the large waves of the Pacific Ocean crashing upon the rocks. When you’ve wrapped up at the beach, head on the trail to return to the parking area.

    Getting to the Nuu Chah Nulth Trail Trailhead

    To reach the parking lot for the Nuu Chah Nulth Trail from Tofino, head to the southeast on BC-4 for 27.3 km and turn right onto Wick Road. Make a left turn after 3.0 km onto Wickaninnish Road, and you will find the trailhead.
