The Fish Lake Alternate Route is a challenging hike in the western Uintas. This hike follows an unmarked and unmaintained trail. Dogs are welcome on this route, but must be kept on leash at all times.

Route Description for Fish Lake Alternate Route
The Fish Lake Alternate Route is a challenging trail in the Western Uintas. This hike requires route-finding, and hikers should arrive prepared for an adventurous day. We strongly suggest bringing a map and/or GPS unit on this hike to aid in navigation. If you are up for an adventure in the Utah wilderness and a route to test your skills, the Fish Lake Alternate Route is the perfect place for you.
From Whiskey Creek Road, head west to Whiskey Island Lake, then climb up and over the pass to continue west to Fish Lake.
Enjoy an afternoon on the shores of Fish Lake, or set up the tent for a night camping out on the lakeshore. Then, when you are ready to head home, retrace your steps back over the pass and back to Whiskey Creek Road, where you began.
Getting to the Fish Lake Alternate Route Trailhead
This hike begins on Whiskey Creek Road off of Highway 150, just north of the Butterfly Lake Campground.
