Route Description for Grandaddy Lake via Grandview Trail
The hike to Grandaddy Lake via the Grandview Trail is a spectacular route in the High Uintas. This trail is moderately challenging, with some steep and rocky sections. Hikers should arrive prepared with proper hiking footwear and lots of water for your adventure. This trail is shared by hikers and horseback riders, so be sure to stay aware of your surroundings when hiking and keep your pup on a leash if they are reactive to horses. Grandaddy Lake itself is the largest lake in the High Uintas and is absolutely breathtaking. We highly recommend bringing along a picnic lunch to enjoy lakeside or your camping gear so you can spend a few days fishing and exploring the lakeshore.
From the Hades Rocky Sea Southern Trailhead, follow the well-traveled trail north up to Grandaddy Lake.
Enjoy your time exploring and playing in and around this incredible, pristine alpine lake. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the trailhead where you began.
Getting to the Grandaddy Lake via Grandview Trail Trailhead
This hike begins at the Hades Rocky Sea Southern Trailhead at the north end of Hades Canyon Road.
