Route Description for Jocelyn Hill From Caleb Pike

The hike to Jocelyn Hill from Caleb Pike may not be the most challenging trail near Victoria, but it still has you climbing some steep sections. Expect some elevation gain along this trail.

This route up Jocelyn Hill is well-marked, so it's quite easy to navigate. From the Gowlland Tod Provincial Park Parking Lot, take a right just after the map board. After walking for a few minutes amid the fresh forest air, you'll reach a junction. Go right and enjoy twisting through the lush, verdant woods. But don't get too comfy! The trail begins to climb shortly after this turn.

Eventually, the forest dissolves into a collection of power lines. You'll come across another junction here. Take a left and head towards Holmes Peak. Hike along the power lines for a few moments before the trail rejoins with the forest. Holmes Peak offers the first view of the hike!

After you begin walking again, you'll reach another junction. Go left and hike along the Ridge Trail. On your way, you'll come across another junction with a sign saying that you're just 1.8 km from Jocelyn Hill. Go left here and go left again when you reach the next sign for the Jocelyn Loop and then take another left at the next junction.

Up next is the steepest climb of the hike, as you climb up Jocelyn Hill. At the top, enjoy a remarkable view of Finlayson Arm of the Saanich Inlet, this should have you forgetting all about the momentary pain felt moments ago.

When you're ready to head back, you can either return the way you came or take a different route and explore a different route. The loop option has you continuing along the path until it reaches a junction. Go right here. This will carry you around Jocelyn Loop, taking you back to a sign you passed on your way to the hike's pinnacle. Go left here and take the same trail back that you took on the way up.
