Chain Meadows Loop
The Chain Meadows Loop is a 14.2 km hiking circuit in Wells Gray Provincial Park that traverses some pleasant forest terrain and climbs gradually uphill to reach a series of scenic vantage points. From these lookouts, you will have some amazing views that stretch out across the expanse of Clearwater Lake and the surrounding forests. Remember to bring bear spray and make plenty of noise when out on the trail, as bears and wolves are often spotted in the area.

Route Description for Chain Meadows Loop
The Chain Meadows Loop is a fantastic hiking route that will allow you to experience the amazing forested trails within Wells Gray Provincial Park and take in some awesome views of Clearwater Lake. From the trailhead, make your way east up a brief series of switchbacks before turning north towards the Osprey Falls Lookout. After taking in the views of the waterfall, continue north through the beautifully atmospheric forest, as you make your way over creek crossings and past Cranberry Lake on your right. Eventually, you will arrive at the Clearwater Lake Lookout, with some amazing views stretching out across the large lake. Follow the trail as it turns south and descends towards the edge of the water, hugging closely to the shore for the remainder of the journey back to the trailhead where you began your hike.
Getting to the Chain Meadows Loop Trailhead
To arrive at the trailhead for the Chain Meadows Loop from Clearwater, head north along Clearwater Valley Road for 65.0 km, where you will find the trailhead on the right.
